Information Overview

The Safety Center is a public service to the Nashville community and surrounding counties. We offer a 16 hour alcohol and drug education program with the ability to make referrals to treatment programs. Our office consist of four administrative staff and two state licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselors. The Safety Center provides direct service to the General Sessions Court and State Trial Courts. We are a state licensed facility that provides service to any DUI offender including those coming to us from another state of county.

Programs

PRIME for Life is a unique and effective alcohol and drug program for adults and young people.  The primary program goal is to save lives by preventing future problems such as alcoholism or drug addiction and impairment problems such as impaired driving arrests or crashes. The program is delivered by trained instructors to adults and youth across the country and Europe. The latest research for the DUI Safety School shows a recidivism rate of 4.47 percent for those who participate and complete the Prime for Life curriculum, the rate is 7.73 percent recidivism rate for those assessed to PRI and Treatment (Level III).  These rates have remained constant and indicate the success of using a standardized curriculum that is tested in not only Tennessee but almost every state that borders Tennessee.   In 2010, this curriculum was mandated by the State of Tennessee
