Nashville, TENN. – Davidson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) warrant officers, correctional services officers, and inmates will continue a holiday tradition Thursday, December 8, by delivering approximately 1,500 food boxes to Nashville residents who are in need. The DCSO is partnering with the charitable organization Big Brothers and it is the one time this year many will be glad to see a sheriff’s deputy at their door.
“Employees in our agency spend hundreds of hours a year giving back to this community, and this is a really important outreach event. It’s the one time a year our warrant officers get to spread a little cheer and it is also an opportunity for inmate workers to help those less fortunate,” Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall said. “This event, along with our Toys for Tots efforts, go a long way in making families, and especially children, have a better holiday.”
Beginning Tuesday at the fairgrounds’ Vaughn Building, 500 Wedgewood Avenue, inmates will begin putting the boxes together, and then filling them with food on Wednesday. Officers and inmates will begin distribution at 7:30 a.m. Thursday from the same address. Residents who are expecting boxes from Big Brothers should be at home to accept delivery.
