GENERAL RULES FOR VISITING INMATES AT MDF

  • General population inmates are allowed two (2) contact visits per week. A limit of three (3) adults OR two (2) adults and three (3) children are allowed to visit an inmate at one time. If adults and children are visiting together, no more than two (2) adults and a reasonable number of children may visit at one time. MDF staff will determine whether the number of children brought to visit is reasonable. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. All inmates are subject to having contact visits changed to non-contact visits as ordered by the Warden.

  • Fifteen (15) persons may be on an inmate's visitors list. Additions or changes will only be made every three (3) months except in cases of emergency as determined by the Warden or Assistant Warden. All additions to an inmate's visitors list must be made through that inmate's assigned Counselor. Children under twelve (12) years of age are not required to be on an inmate's visitors list in order to visit that inmate, provided they are accompanied by the appropriate number of adults who are on that inmate's visitors list.
  • All inmates, regardless of classification status, must submit a visitors list in order to receive visitation privileges.
  • Present and former employees of Corrections Corporation of America are not allowed to visit inmates at this facility. Employees of the Davidson County Sheriff's Office must have the written authorization of the Chief Deputy to request approval to visit.
  • If a visitor is a former federal, state, or local inmate, he/she must have been released from incarceration for at least one year prior to requesting approval to visit. Any visitor on parole or probation must be an immediate family member of the inmate to be visited, and must present a letter to that effect from his/her parole/probation officer.
  • All inmates will be searched prior to entry, and before leaving, the visitation area.
  • Inmates and visitors are required to follow these rules and the directives of the Visiting Room Officer at all times.

  • Any question about these or any other aspect of inmate visitation at MDF should be asked by calling 615-835-0146 before the planned visit.
