SCHEDULING A VISIT WITH AN INMATE AT MDF

There are two ways visits with an inmate at MDF can be scheduled (either way, any/all visitors must be on the inmate's approved visitation list):
1. The inmate submits an inmate request form/special visit form 48 hours in advance, requesting the date, time, and name of visitor(s). The request will be returned to the inmate with an approved date and time the visit is scheduled to start. If the time requested is already reserved, it is the inmate's responsibility to request another time; no other time will be assigned by MDF staff.

2. If a visitor wishes to initiate a visit, the visitor must call the facility visitation registration desk at 615-835-0146 to request a date and time for a visit. The visitor must provide the inmate's name, ATN number, and the names of all who will be visiting on the date and time requested. Visitation reservations may be made Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, as well as Monday through Friday between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (excluding holidays). All of the following rules then apply:
  • Upon arrival at MDF, visitors must register, present valid state photo identification, and be subject to search prior to visiting. All visitors should arrive at least twenty minutes prior to the scheduled visiting time, in order to allow for processing into the visitation room. It is very important that all visitors arrive as scheduled.

  • NO-SHOWS: If a visitor does not arrive for a scheduled visit twice within the same month, his/her visitation privileges may be suspended for up to 30 days.

  • CANCELLATION: Visitors found to be involved in excessive cancellations will have visiting privileges suspended for up to 30 days.

  • SUSPENSION: Suspended visitation privileges will be reinstated at the discretion of the facility Warden.
