Correctional Services Division

The Correctional Services Division provides a variety of services via inmate labor throughout Davidson County.  In addition, it provides limited services to Metro agencies and non-profit organizations.  With a limited budget and resources, this division in fiscal year 2005 made a great impact on the community by:

- Removing 4,749,155 pounds of litter from the streets
- Participating in 106 community clean-ups
- Generating $19,504 in revenue through recycling program
- Working inmate crews more than 100,000 hours
- Saving Metro Government and non-profits over $1 million

Some examples of projects inmate labor may be used for include:

  • lawn-mowing for certain Metro agencies, all high school football athletic fields, Little League ball parks, etc....

  • alley clean-up, and community clean-ups

  • litter removal from public streets and rights-of-way...

  • set-up and tear-down of tables, chairs, tents, etc., as well as clean-up after many  public events, such as the Italian Street Fair and Tennessee Special Olympics...

  • assisting with special projects including The Nashville Zoo out Grassmere, Donelson Senior Center, The Hermitage, Music City Marathon, etc.

  • small renovation and demolition projects for non-profit entities.

(Note: Correctional Services inmates are prohibited from performing any work for private businesses, or on any private property.)
