Six-year DCSO employee Rebecca Luster (Warrants/OP’s) unexpectedly lost her brother last week.  As she and her family grieved the loss, hope lingered by way of organ donation.  Rebecca, who previously worked in Booking, knew of Darrell Knight’s (15-year DCSO employee, Booking supervisor)  situation and his need for a kidney transplant.  Quickly, all necessary testing was done and it was soon discovered Rebecca’s brother was an exact match with Darrell – whose blood type is less than common.  May 5, Darrell underwent a successful kidney transplant and should his health continue to improve, he will be off dialysis and back to work in about six weeks.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Rebecca and Darrell as they both recover.  We are all thankful for the generous gift of life given by Rebecca’s brother.

Donovan Dunlap, son of Junell Dunlap (CDF), will be entering his sophomore year at Tennessee Tech University this fall.  This is the second year he has received the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association scholarship.

Jonathan Griffith is the son of Jim Griffith (CJC Classification) and will be a freshmen at Middle Tennessee State University this fall.

Both winners received five hundred dollars to use towards their education.
