SHERIFF’S OFFICE SPONSORS SOBER RIDE ST. PATRICK’S DAY
Davidson County Sheriff’s Office employee volunteers gather for a briefing prior to hitting the streets of Nashville. |
Davidson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) volunteers are preparing for the seventh annual Sober Ride St. Patrick’s Day. Since its inception, sheriff’s office employees have taken nearly 4,000 people home. The holiday, known for its green beer and Irish bar hopping, will no doubt bring many out to celebrate and Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall wants to ensure it’s a safe one.
“Last year, our 90 employee volunteers gave up their time to make sure the streets of Nashville were safe. They traveled more than 4,000 miles in this county taking nearly 600 people home. "It couldn’t be any easier for those who have had too much to drink. All they have to do is call 862-RIDE for a free, safe, and sober ride home. Making that call is much better than the alternative; ending up in our jail or worse - causing a crash that results in someone’s death,” Hall said.
The St. Patrick’s Day event will operate similarly to the New Year’s Eve Sober Ride, with the exception of the downtown bus route. For a sober ride on St. Patrick’s Day, 10 p.m. – 2 a.m., call 615-862-RIDE (7433). The program operates in Davidson County only and reservations are not accepted. |

This project is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Governor’s Highway Safety Office and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
Davidson County Sheriff’s Office employee volunteers Joseph Freeman and Clarissa Cross get ready for a night of providing sober rides. |
